Course Syllabus

Synopsis

This course will enhance the experience of students in the methodologies used in scientific research, including data analysis, or work in other contexts (e.g. industry/business sectors), as well as on the presentation and discussion of the work done.

Aims

To get training in research or applied activity in industry/business/other sector, develop autonomy, ability to develop a project, write a report on the work done, present and discuss the results of the activity developed.

Objectives

At the end of the Unit, you should:

  1. Get training on methodologies for research and analysis of scientific questions, through an experimental approach based on a previous elaborated project, analysis and discussion of the obtained results and presentation of the results in oral and written formats.

or

  1. Get contact and training in activities of industry/business/other sector, research center or state institution, by developing the work plan in that entity so as to obtain knowledge, aptitudes and competences in the specific areas of that entity with interest to the Master, and in writing, presenting and discuss the stage report.

Syllabus

The students may select his topic/project among different stage proposals (in any topic of interest to the Master) offered by teachers/researchers/professionals from ICBAS-UP, FCUP, research centres and institutions from other sectors that will be made available to the students after being evaluated and approved by the local Scientific Committee of the Master.

  • Research/Stage work (tutorial supervision): 51 hr

Assessment

Tutorial supervision and presentation and discussion of the work done (oral and written form- stage report)

  • Stage report: 50 %
  • Oral presentation and discussion: 20%
  • Supervisor evaluation on the performance of the student during the stage: 30 %

Course Evaluation

By completion of University Unit Evaluation Questionnaire by students, annual assessment by Unit Coordinator.
